Luke 9:23 (KJV), “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” I read a story about a young girl at a worship rally and when the altar call came she left her belongings and ran to the altar surrendering her life to Jesus. She left it all! A few weeks later I heard stories of people standing in the rain, water is pouring from the sky and people are just standing there, not knowing to move and get out of the rain.

Through both of these stories God gave me three images of different types of people — 1) those who leave everything to run to Jesus; 2) those who run to Jesus, but look back first to go pickup their belongings; 3) those who let the rain fall — standing frozen in place not knowing what to do. Psalm 38:4 (GNT), “I am drowning in the flood of my sins; they are a burden too heavy to bear”. Which type person am I? I would love to give the Sunday School answer and say I am the one who leaves everything to run to the altar. However, I am the one who would look back and grab my purse first then go to the altar.

God gives me imagery from stories or people I encounter in my life to help me grow and also people provide wonderful examples to share stories here on this blog. God speaks to each of us however we can best understand. My prayer is for those who don’t reach out to Jesus to get our of life’s storms, may you find Him today. Some use addictions or shrivel up in silence not telling anyone they need help. Go to Jesus, He is waiting to help you out of the rain.

Leave a comment as well and Love.Truth.Life. would love to walk with you to show you how to follow Jesus.

Blessings.
