Sunny, windy, could get sick, don’t have time — excuses, excuses. These excuses are things I say to myself in order to stay where I am and avoid getting in the car for a drive. When I was a kid my favorite thing to do was take a ride with my dad. We would drive around, go to the lake and talk. I could usually convince him to buy an ice cream cone for me too.
Today, I still love to get in the car and drive with no particular destination in mind. However, when I was a kid I had no excuses — as an adult I have plenty excuses, why?
For me, I get use to the norm and my brain can check out while doing things I do all the time. It is healthy for me to do things on a whim — like get in the car and just drive. My best conversations with Jesus are on my drives with no particular destination in mind. or anything to check off my list.
